Events
We kick off the summer each June with a 3-day BACKPACKING expedition that offers high school students a memory-making wilderness experience that's also a fun way to build friendships while experiencing fireside conversations and mountain-peak vistas.
BIBLE QUIZZING is a fun and rewarding program for those interested in learning the Bible and who love competition and road trips. It provides a mix of Bible memorization and content understanding. We are studying the gospel of Matthew this year.
We head to BLACK BUTTE each fall to work on the health of our community and explore ways in which God is revealed in the natural world. The weekend includes two focused discussions, a hike to the top of Black Butte, swimming and delicious food.
EQUIPO is a cross-cultural missions trip that provides Newberg-area youth and their families an opportunity to serve the people of San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico. Projects in 2013 include three homes, a costura or sewing training center, chicken coops, a playground, and a vacation Bible school.
An evening at FRENCH PRAIRIE is our annual harvest party for middle and high school youth at a pumpkin patch in St. Paul, where we roast s'mores, run through a corn maze, explore a hay maze, and take turns on the giant slide.
MIDWINTER Sr. High Camp is a retreat for high school youth that focuses on service. It's a chance to spend time with old friends and make new ones, to worship, to pray, to serve, to play, to have fun together.
SAMUEL SCHOOL II is a retreat designed to further develop spiritual sensitivity and leadership abilities of high school students, challenging them to nurture a Christ-centered lifestyle. Participants are selected by the church elders.
SENIOR SALUTE is our community's celebration of the graduating high school seniors. There's worship, a speaker (usually an NHS graduate), dessert, and a slideshow.
SURFSIDE is a week-long camp on the Oregon Coast where students experience adventure and are encouraged to grow in their faith, where teachers encourage deep thinking, counselors listen passionately, and group building activities create opportunities for deep friendships.
Last year's Northwest Yearly Meeting high school VOLLEYBALL tournament featured 22 teams in the two divisions and was hosted by Homedale Friends Church in southern Idaho. This year's tournament will be at George Fox University.
